Girls' Soccer Summer Workout Program Starts June 1

Posted on: Tuesday, June 09, 2009

The John Burroughs High School Girls Summer Soccer Program begins Tuesday, June 1, with a Parents and Players meeting at Edison Elementry School, located on the corner of Chandler and Keystone Streets.  The meeting will be held on the grass field, and the meeting will start at 5:30 p.m.

Players can turn in their paperwork (Sports Packet and Physical Form) at this time.  No player can participate in a workout without submitting all paperwork and proof of a current physical.  The player must turn in the Physical Form filled out by their doctor to support this. Forms can be found on this website under files and links.

The first workouts will begin on Wednesday, June 2, at Luther Burbank Middle School, and will be from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.  The workouts will be held on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.  The last workout will be held on Thursday, July 22.

These workouts offer players new to the program, as well as returning players, an opportunity to prepare for the upcoming season. It is an opportunity for players to improve existing soccer skills or develop new soccer skills and techniques.   For new players, it gives an opportunity to become acquinted with the Girls' Soccer Program, the coaches, and the players.

We ask a contribution of $60.00 to offset the costs of the Summer Soccer Program.  Each participant who makes a contribution of $50.00 will receive two t-shirts and a soccer ball.

Try-outs for the Soccer Team will be held during the first two weeks of School (School begins August 16).  A second Try-out for players crossing over from fall sports will be held in November.   These Summer Workouts will assist new and returning players in preparing for these tryouts.
